The villa's private pool runs along a pale deck beside the white pergola, with a wall of dark lava stone closing off the garden behind it and the volcanic hills around Yaiza rising beyond. It's a saltwater pool, heated and open all year, and it has its own cover.
Gran Tubla's heated pool runs from inside to out. The indoor half sits under a ceiling of hanging wooden slats, with loungers along a wall of glass, then the water carries on past a glass partition to an outdoor section on a timber deck, finished with an infinity edge. From there the view opens over Ortisei to the Sella group and Sassolungo. It's open all year, from 09:00 to 20:00.

The view from the Alpine Sky Pool runs across Val Gardena and over the rooftops of Ortisei, up to the peaks of Seceda and the Sella massif. Kolfuschgerhof has two pools. The indoor pool is 14 m long and kept between 26 and 30°C, with a ledge to rest on, and the rooftop infinity pool outside, 12 x 5 m and heated, looks out over snow-laden trees, timber chalet walls and the rock faces of the Dolomites. Both are free to use, open all year and open to all ages, and in summer the same water sits between green lawns and grey peaks.
Arched windows and white columns line Kastel's indoor pool, with a painted mural running the length of one wall. The water is kept at about 30°C, there's a water jet and a whirlpool at the edge, and the pool is open all year. Children get two adventure pools of their own, with pool toys and a water slide.
Tall glass walls frame the main pool at Skamnos, so you swim lengths with pine trees and the Parnassos mountainside just outside. Every room here has its own pool, set into a furnished terrace, and from the sea-view suites you look out over the rooftops of Chania towards the sea. Blue mosaic in a chequerboard pattern covers the floor of Ellinon Thea's indoor pool, with a dolphin picked out in tiles and gently curving steps down into the shallow end. Up on the hill above Puerto del Carmen, the pool terrace looks out past palms to the Atlantic. A long, curving outdoor pool runs between the hotel wings and the sand, a lane-marked pool is there for proper lengths, and an indoor heated pool sits under glass for cooler days. Along the seafront, some ground-floor rooms and junior suites have a private pool of their own, a few steps from the beach.
Palm Oasis is built around water. Two outdoor pools wind through a tropical garden of palms and volcanic rock, with waterfalls, hot tubs tucked into the rocks and a slide for the kids. On Abama's clifftop, three heated pools are open to every guest all year, out of seven spread through the gardens. The Lagoon Pool, the largest, curves between palms at the heart of the Citadel. The Persian Garden Pool sits among the terracotta, Moorish-style buildings looking over Abama bay, and the Serenity Pool, for ages 13 and up, faces the golf course.
From November to mid-April, the three outdoor pools at Sunprime Atlantic View are heated to around 25°C, and they stay open all year. Together they add up to more than 700 m² of water, at 222, 239 and 289 m², set in a palm garden below the white suite blocks. Some pools have wide walk-in steps, and the Prime Pool Suites open straight onto the water.
White hotel blocks wrap around a curving pool at Coral Suites, with terracotta paving, palms at the edges and a poolside bar close at hand. It's outdoors, heated and open all year, with a shallow end for easing in, and the Nuevo restaurant looks straight over the water.
Six outdoor pools spread through the gardens of this resort by the sea in Meloneras. The one to find first is the infinity pool, its edge running out towards the Atlantic. Elsewhere there's a large lagoon-style main pool below the resort's twin church towers, a saltwater pool, a plunge pool and a kids' pool, plus a sandy beach area set among the palms.
At 1,255 m², the circular main pool is closer to a lagoon than a hotel pool, set in a palm garden with the hotel's curved white wings around it and the sea beyond. It's heated all year, to around 26-27°C in winter and 28-30°C in summer, and 1.5 m deep, with a patterned tiled floor that lights up at dusk.
Below the bare brown mountains of the Mogán valley, the resort wraps around its pool garden: two outdoor pools, each with a hot tub, and a separate children's pool. The main pool is saltwater, heated and open all year, with a shallow end for easing in.
Floor-to-ceiling windows run down one side of Anemolia's pool hall, so the Delphi valley is right there while you swim. The pool is indoors and open all year, heated to around 27°C from late October to May, set under a timber-beamed ceiling between stone-clad pillars, with a shallow end and loungers lined up along the glass.
Built into the volcanic cliff at Agaete, the hotel steps down in white terraces to two outdoor pools. The long one runs in front of the room blocks with the Atlantic just past the glass railing; the second, curved pool comes with its own round hot tub. Inside Aegli's spa, a mosaic-tiled indoor pool runs along a wall of glass, and from the water you look out over the hillside and the houses of Arachova. It's an infinity pool, edged with Greek-key bands, lit blue after dark, with lanterns along the side and loungers at the far end.
