The pool
Why this pool made the list
Palm Oasis is built around water. Two outdoor pools wind through a tropical garden of palms and volcanic rock, with waterfalls, hot tubs tucked into the rocks and a slide for the kids. The pools are heated in winter, the main one is open all year with a shallow end for easing in, and there's a separate children's pool.
Sun loungers and umbrellas are included, and the pool bar keeps drinks coming through the day, with cocktails moving to the lobby bar in the evening. Children of any age are welcome, so expect a family crowd around the slide. Worth knowing: from 3 to 30 May 2027 the second pool, the slide and the kids' pool close for maintenance, while the main pool and the hot tub stay open.

The stay
Beyond the pool
Palm Oasis sits in a quiet part of Maspalomas, in Gran Canaria's south, set among tropical gardens with views towards the dunes or the Atlantic. The coast is about five minutes away by car, and the resort runs a free shuttle to the beaches with four departures a day. Gran Canaria airport is about 35 km by road, and the Meloneras and Maspalomas golf courses are both within 3 km.
The 234 apartments range from 29 m² studios to two-bedroom suites of 115 m² with a large balcony, a hot tub and a sauna. Every unit has a terrace, a kitchen and a hydromassage bath. The restaurant serves buffet and à la carte meals with barbecue nights, and there's tennis, mini golf and a supermarket on site.
Here's the thing: air conditioning only runs from June to September, which matters little in the Canarian winter but is worth knowing for spring and autumn stays.

Two outdoor pools sit in the palm garden between the resort and the sea near Arguineguín: a large free-form freshwater pool and, right beside it, a smaller saltwater pool that's heated and open all year. A shallow end makes easing in simple, and children get their own pool area.
Below the bare brown mountains of the Mogán valley, the resort wraps around its pool garden: two outdoor pools, each with a hot tub, and a separate children's pool. The main pool is saltwater, heated and open all year, with a shallow end for easing in.
The pool at El Palmital curves across a green lawn, with a shallow, beach-style edge that slopes gently into the water under tall palms. It's heated and open all year, which is exactly what you want from a Gran Canaria winter, and the low white bungalows with their red-tiled roofs sit close around it. A sunken seating area is set into the grass beside the water.
