Lanzarote is the driest of the Canary Islands, and its pool stays follow the coast: low whitewashed apartment complexes around Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise, resort hotels along the south, and a long list of villas with their own pools in and around Playa Blanca. In winter the numbers explain why heating matters. The AEMET station at Lanzarote airport records an average January high of about 21°C with nights near 14°C, and the sea off Puerto del Carmen drops to around 18°C in February and March. Lovely in the sun, cool for a long swim, especially once the trade wind picks up.
Every stay we add here needs a pool at the property and a Booking.com rating of 8.0 or more from at least 50 guests. From October to February we look for pools confirmed as heated or open all year, and each stay page says which pool that applies to. Here's the thing with villas: a private pool is not automatically a heated one. If a warm pool is the point of your trip, look for heating in the listing, and read what we could confirm on the stay page.
Worth knowing: the airport sits on the east coast near Arrecife, so treat the climate figures as a guide for the resorts. Rain is rare, about 111 mm a year at the same station, most of it between November and February.

Each villa has its own outdoor pool, set into a lawn edged with flowering shrubs and a paved terrace. There's a shallow end for easing in, an outdoor shower beside the water, and the pool is open all year. Climb the outside stairs to the roof terrace and you look out towards the islands of Lobos and Fuerteventura.
The villa's private pool runs along a pale deck beside the white pergola, with a wall of dark lava stone closing off the garden behind it and the volcanic hills around Yaiza rising beyond. It's a saltwater pool, heated and open all year, and it has its own cover.
The beach is right there: Lava Beach sits on the promenade above Matagorda's dark volcanic sand, and its two freshwater pools curve between palms and white loungers just back from the sea. Both are heated all year, usually to around 26°C, and there's a shallow kids' pool beside them. Water massage loungers line part of the edge.
Four outdoor pools spread across the terraces between the resort's stepped white wings, with the Atlantic beyond the glass balustrades and Playa Bastián at the edge of the grounds. Two of them are heated and the main pool is open all year. One has an infinity edge facing the sea, and some suites have swim-up access straight from their terrace.
Up on the hill above Puerto del Carmen, the pool terrace looks out past palms to the Atlantic. The main outdoor pool is open all year and heated in winter, and a small dynamic pool beside it adds a little waterfall and hydromassage jets, heated through the cooler months too. Some suites go further, with a private pool just off the terrace.
