The pool
Two long outdoor pools run down the middle of the hotel between rows of palms and white loungers, with the sea at the far end and the low white wings of the building on either side. One of them has an infinity edge, and the main pool stays open all year. Indoors, the wellness centre has a third pool: a heated pool under a blue-lit vaulted ceiling, with a sauna, a steam bath and sensation showers around it.
Loungers, parasols and pool towels are included at the outdoor pools, and the Breeze pool bar sits beside them. Here's the thing: the outdoor pools aren't confirmed as heated, and the heated one is inside the spa, where entry costs extra, so in January your warm swim is a paid one. The hotel is adults only, for guests aged 18 and over, which keeps the pool deck child-free through the winter-sun months.

The stay
Barceló Teguise Beach stands on Plaza Janubio in Costa Teguise, on Lanzarote's east coast, 150 m from Las Cucharas beach and roughly 13 km from the airport. Costa Teguise golf course is 4.4 km away, and windsurfing, diving and cycling can be booked nearby.
The 305 rooms are done in a clean modernist style, white walls with patterned headboard panels, and most have a hot tub, either indoors or out on the terrace. The sea-view rooms and junior suites look straight over the water. Breakfast is a buffet, the Atlantic restaurant handles main meals, and there's an Asian and international menu, the Champs sports bar, the B-Lounge cocktail bar and live music in the evenings. An all-inclusive option is available.
The spa adds a sauna, a steam bath, bithermal and aromatic showers and treatment rooms for wraps, scrubs and facials. Worth knowing: the hotel has no parking of its own.
