The pool
Inside Aegli's spa, a mosaic-tiled indoor pool runs along a wall of glass, and from the water you look out over the hillside and the houses of Arachova. It's an infinity pool, edged with Greek-key bands, lit blue after dark, with lanterns along the side and loungers at the far end.
Towels are waiting and there's no charge to swim. The water is heated for the winter season, when the spa area opens from late October to the end of March. After a few lengths, the spa carries on with a sauna, a hammam, massages and a fully equipped fitness centre; the hotel says its wellness and fitness areas are for guests over 16. At 1,050 m at the foot of Parnassos, it makes a retreat after a day on the ski slopes or at the museum of Delphi.

The stay
Aegli sits at the foot of Mount Parnassos at 1,050 m, 1 km outside Arachova centre, looking towards Delphi. It's built as a cluster of traditional three-storey stone houses with arches and tile roofs, and every unit opens to a balcony; most have a fireplace too.
The on-site cafe does coffee, drinks and snacks with a view over the surroundings, and a Mediterranean restaurant opens seasonally, so don't count on dinner there in every month. Parking on site and WiFi throughout are both free.
